Job Summary
The Production Area Specialist is instrumental in the areas of training, advance troubleshooting, basic maintenance, and overseeing our Performance Monitoring System. This role will provide deep expertise, guidance, and leadership within the production department. This role is pivotal in advancing our mission to deliver efficient, safe, and innovative finished goods to our customers.
Job Responsibilities
Safety: Ensure all Production packaging equipment and systems meet Heartlands safety program standards, and industry best practices. Conduct regular safety inspections, report hazards, and promote a culture of safety among team members.
Expertise Sharing: Share comprehensive knowledge of packaging equipment with cross-functional teams, ensuring a thorough understanding of system architecture, capabilities, and applications. Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance. Collaborate with technical support for equipment upgrades and software updates. Provide guidance and training to production personnel on equipment operations and maintenance. Facilitate shift changeover meetings.
System Design and Integration: Support the design and integration process of packaging equipment systems, including assessing customer needs, selecting appropriate technologies, and overseeing implementation.
Training: Assist with the development and delivery of training programs for production associates to enhance their understanding of our equipment technologies, maintenance, troubleshooting, quality policies, and procedures.
Innovation: Stay current with emerging trends and advancement in equipment technologies, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Troubleshooting: Act as a point of contact for resolving complex technical issues related to packaging equipment, providing guidance and recommendations for efficient solutions. Troubleshoot equipment faults; identify and seek to understand issues or malfunctions that occur with the machine. As appropriate, perform corrective actions including minor adjustments on packaging equipment (basic tool use may be required).
Performance Optimization: Analyze data and performance metrics from equipment operations, identify areas for improvement, and work collaboratively to optimize system efficiency. Relieve, support and train Operational Technician for all positions on all production lines. Perform routine checks and inspections to identify and resolve any equipment malfunctions/abnormalities, ensuring minimal downtime. Perform and/or assist in product and package changeovers. Perform required Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) maintenance on equipment. Perform basic fault intervention with LGV’s and interfacing with the E80 software.
Documentation: Ensures all quality checks, food safety regulations, start-ups, safety operations, etc. are being followed consistently and accurately. Document and maintain accurate records of production data, equipment maintenance, and process parameters.
Collaboration: Collaborate with department leaders, plant engineers, and customers to ensure successful execution, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. A minimum of three years of work experience is required.
- Prior experience as an Operational Technician is required.
- TPM/Lean 6 sigma experience preferred.
- Demonstrated mechanical and technical skills of both bottle and can lines.
- Communication skills to lead effective shift/team meetings and to provide information in verbal and written reports.
- Advance trouble shooting skills required.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Knowledge of LEAN methodologies and TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) processes, including 5S, Root-Cause Analysis, and continuous improvement practices preferred.
Pay: $59,681 - $70,212 a year
