Job Summary

The VP of Information Technology is a key member of the executive leadership team and is accountable for analyzing and communicating IT capabilities, improvement opportunities and functional training and ensuring the continued technological success of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identifies and develops technology initiatives and oversees the implementation of the technology strategy ensuring its alignment with the business plan. 
  • Manages the IT team by providing strategic direction, clear vision, business feedback, escalation support and systems analysis.  Provides feedback to the IT team on the results and effectiveness of the IT activities and initiatives.  
  • Keep the leadership team informed of IT related services & initiatives.  Regularly connect with other leaders to ensure that the business needs are considered as part of all IT initiatives.  
  • Represent Heartland’s interest while serving on the Board of Directors for CONA.
  • Key influencer in prioritization of IT work requests.  Ensures all IT initiatives comply with IT policies and audit requirements.  
  • Partners with finance teams to manage annual business plan funding for technology initiatives; ensures compliance pertaining to OPEX & CAPEX budget goals specific to IT initiatives.  
  • Build relationships with key partners and vendors that ensure the strategic, operations, and tactical needs of the business are met within SLAs and budgets.  
  • Responsible for staying up to date with technology trends and leveraging innovative technologies to drive business performance. 
  • Participates in the negotiation and evaluation of all Heartland contracts for computer and communication technology hardware, software, and services. 

Job Requirements

  • This position can be based in our St. Charles or Olathe/Lenexa facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of work experience required, or minimum of eight years of progressive job experience including people management, multi-level communication, and leadership required.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Prior experience focused on IT including systems support, hardware/software applications, infrastructure, and information security.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Information Technology methodologies, infrastructure, and architecture.
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and specifications.  Capable of recommending and providing guidance to maintain and improve IT effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships across all levels within the organization.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including communicating with employees, customers, and suppliers in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and take initiative in the development and completion of projects, includes managing multiple projects concurrently and meeting rigorous deadlines.
  • Ability to successfully distill complex technical information into clear, concise yet comprehensive communication material.
  • Valid Driver's License, current vehicle liability insurance, driving record within policy guidelines.
