Job Summary

The Strategy Development Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the contract strategy, outlet performance and Food Service On Premise (FSOP) tactical planning. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Drives continual improvement with increasing frontline productivity; accomplishes this by executing tactical route plans focused on channel priorities, new customer onboarding, A/B customer focus, commercial priorities, innovation, and void closures.  Develop action plans, collateral, and surveys. Publish weekly reporting and provide direction to FSOP on performance objectives specific to lost and new outlets.  
  • Manage the contractual landscape for Heartland which includes the following: monthly audit through Shared Services, economic analysis tracker and managing the approval process, contract set-up and the competitive landscape overview.  Collaborate with finance to audit reports to ensure accurate accruals towards contract elements.  Collaboration with brand partners on strategic contractual investment to drive FSOP share leadership. 
  • Manage the annual strategy review calendar and conduct monthly strategy meetings with each Hometown to analyze the annual business review process, potential competitive acquisitions, vending rate increases, and expiring PMT’s and contracts.  
  • Manage reporting tools including productivity reports, outlet database (Alpha), route productivity, sales tax compliance and present business results quarterly to ELT and frontline FSOP team.  Provide strategic direction as needed based on results. 
  • Establish and manage the local marketing program (LMP) nickel fund budget and allocations.  Coordinate LMP reporting with NAOU team to ensure proper local and agency market alignment.   
  • Influence and manage collaborative relationship with CCBSS Customer Call Center, stewarding ICEP/Customer Support Ticket process and LEADS programming with the vendor.  
  • Collaboration with Equipment Service and CCBSS team to evaluate equipment placement approach, specific to active lost, at-risk, and underperforming customers to ensure cold drink equipment placement goals are achieved.  Support ongoing audit of Equipment Placement Agreements.  
  • Update and maintain the online sales application tool (SharePoint HUB, Game Plan, Etc.) for the frontline employees that includes channel picture of success standards, equipment dimensions/specifications, latest brand sales sheets and other sales tools.   

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.   
  • A minimum of three years of work experience is required.
  • Sales experience at a Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) organization required.
  • Logistics/route planning experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SAP.  Superior Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to draw insights and make decisions from data.
  • Exceptional prioritization, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Effectively communicates and builds relationships at all organizational levels; ability to both present ideas and influence decisions at leadership level.
