General Purpose
The General Accounting Analyst is accountable for analyzing the company’s financial activity related to the general ledger and balance sheet. Primarily responsible for creating monthly journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations. Participates in accounting month-end close process, budgeting process and reporting expense variances with accuracy and compliance. Works closely with Finance Managers, Market Unit Managers, Assistant Controller and Controller and support as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monthly Journal entries:
- Prepare standard monthly journal entries and accruals.
- Provide support in researching financial statement variances.
- Analyze monthly reporting data.
- Prepare year over year expense comparisons with explanations.
Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for Finance Manager review.
- Participate in quarterly balance sheet reviews with Assistant Controller and Finance Manager
- Provide risk/opportunity estimates for Leadership.
Month End Close:
- Work collaboratively with Finance team to analyze key financial data.
- Investigate and provide feedback on accounting issues that arise.
IFRS 16 Reporting (Lease Accounting):
- Prepare IFRS 16 monthly journal entries, valuation entries and disposal entries.
- Prepare IFRS 16 monthly reporting package for Parent Company
- Maintain IFRS 16 Valuation reports for eligible lease agreements.
- Identify leases approaching expiration and partner with Legal department on status.
- Maintain lease agreements on shared drive for review.
Ad Hoc:
- Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
- Collaborate with Finance team on key projects and provide any analysis needed.
Support and utilize support from business partners:
- Support new projects that add value to the organization.
- Build and utilize working relationships with internal business partners across the organization.
- Provide insight to process inefficiencies and recommend process improvement strategies.
- Conduct research for and prepare presentation materials for Leadership meetings.
Annual Budget/Forecast:
- Inform Finance Manager of any changes needed to the budget/forecast within area of responsibility.
- Identify trends and inform Finance Manager of any actions to improve budget presentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- MBA or CPA preferred but not required
- Experience in dealing with the full cycle of accounting transactions, variance analysis and budget preparation
- Advanced level English language, basic understanding of Spanish language is a plus.
