Finance Specialist - Cost

General Purpose

Primary responsibility for accounting functions including month, quarter, and year-end close, accuracy of reported financial results, quality and integrity of balance sheet and income statement, and accounting analysis

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing support to the Finance Manager – Cost
  • Assist in the Budget and Forecast process 
  • Provides explanation vs Budget and Forecast
  • Support achievement of EBITDA targets, primarily through analysis of results 
  • Day to day operations of the cost accounting function related to Cost Activities 
  • Follows the Charts of Authority.  
  • Ensures consistency of accounting treatment and proper application of GAAP and Company financial policies to financial transactions.  
  • Provide cost ad-hoc financial support to key leadership
  • Prepare month-end commentary and other ad-hoc reporting related to financial results.
  • Participates in yearly planning and budgeting process.
  • Participates in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process.
  • Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years accounting and/or finance experience required.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred but not required
  • College education in accounting/finance or related field required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word 
  • Understanding of SAP required
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with time deadlines.
  • Experience with Variance Analysis
  • Reporting, General Ledger, Month/Quarter/Year End Close process 
  • Experience in the budgeting/planning process required.
  • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple projects with excellent attention to detail 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Understanding of GAAP, legal requirements, and company policies and procedures
  • Understanding of technology impacting day to day business operations as well as information systems
  • Understanding of the Company’s philosophy of growing EBITDA
