Job Description

The TMS Administrator is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s Transportation Management System. This role ensures that transportation planning, execution, tracking, and settlement processes run efficiently and accurately. The TMS Administrator serves as the primary liaison between transportation operations, IT, carriers, and the TMS vendor to ensure high system performance and user satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

System Configuration & Support

  • Configure and maintain TMS settings, workflows, and optimization rules.
  • Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and system access controls.
  • Provide day‑to‑day support to planners, dispatchers, and other TMS users.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, data errors, and workflow failures.
  • Coordinate with IT and vendors to resolve system bugs and integration errors.

Carrier & Rate Management

  • Set up new carriers, lanes, contracts, and rate tables.
  • Maintain routing guides, capacity rules, and carrier assignments.
  • Validate rate accuracy and investigate rating discrepancies.
  • Support transportation with bid events and rate updates.

Integration & Data Management

  • Monitor EDI/API integrations
  • Track and resolve failed transactions or data inconsistencies.
  • Maintain accurate master data (locations, items, accessorials, etc.).
  • Partner with vendor on mapping changes and integration enhancements.

Training & Documentation

  • Develop SOPs, training materials, and user guides.
  • Provide training for new hires and ongoing system education for existing users.
  • Communicate system changes, upgrades, and release impacts.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and performance reports.
  • Support transportation operations with analysis on cost, service, and compliance.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis on service failures or cost spikes.

Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify efficiency opportunities through system enhancements or workflow changes.
  • Refine optimization logic for routing, consolidation, and tendering.
  • Participate in cross‑functional projects to improve transportation processes.

Upgrades & Quality Assurance

  • Lead or support system upgrades, patches, and new module deployments.
  • Conduct functional and regression testing.
  • Document testing results and ensure readiness for go‑live.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TMS platform E2OPEN
  • Experience managing rate tables and routing guides.
  • Experience with SAP and E2OPEN integration
