Job Description

Engineer 1 will provide guidance and oversight to our warehouse automation centers to facilitate best-in-class maintenance, equipment reliability, and readiness. This position will lead the maintenance function by planning, scheduling, inspecting, auditing completed work, and reporting the results.  Engineer 1 will also lead teams to determine the root cause of equipment failures and help determine corrective action to prevent future failures.


Engineer 1 will report directly to the Director of Engineering and Development.  This is a salaried exempt position, with overnight travel required on occasion.  The Engineer 1 position is a corporate position but will be based out of the Needham, MA or South Windsor, CT facility. position will work out of the Bedford office but will spend most of the time in South Windsor or the Needham facility.  This position will also support the manufacturing centers, or other warehouse operations on an as-needed basis.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the following:
    • Develop KBIs and KPIs to measure asset performance, maintenance completion ratios, downtime, and financial tracking on maintenance spend
    • Create asset performance dashboard to review results with associates, GMs, and Senior leadership
    • Develop, manage, and maintain up to date maintenance plans
    • Spare parts inventory
    • OEM vendors, contractors, and professional service organizations
  • Create and foster collaborative environment where input from associates is welcome 
  • Implement continuous improvement process
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental programs

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3–5 years of experience in a maintenance manager role or
  • Associate degree in Engineering and 5+ years of supervisory or management experience in maintenance. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), CMM, CEM, or trade license preferred.
  • Strong aptitude in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
  • Proficiency with PLC, VFD, and PC systems.
  • Solid understanding of Layer 2 networking with VLAN implementation, and familiarity with Layer 3 routing, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards, CMMS systems, and Microsoft Server OS (preferred).
  • Strong analytical and first-principles problem-solving skills with the ability to influence peers and drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage across all organizational levels.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to inspire and encourage others.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and alignment with company values.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
