Job Description
The Cash Applications Specialist will be responsible for the timely and accurate application of daily payments received through lockbox. This role will be accountable for adherence to strict monthly cash close deadlines. The Cash Applications Specialist will ensure the accurate coding of all identified and unidentified residual cash balances.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform the timely and accurate posting of all outstanding check, wire, EDI and ACH payments received in our lockbox on a daily basis
- Work with the Collections team to promptly identify, research, review and code any unapplied cash within established SLA guidelines and Month End close requirements
- Apply credit card payments in accordance with PCI compliance standards
- Respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to payment application and account balances in a timely manner
- Process cases submitted by the Collections team
- Provide backup support to the Route Settlement team when necessary to settle shipments & research Sale Center inquiries
- Maintain daily and monthly reporting related to Cash Balancing & Non-Sufficient Funds.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects aimed at streamlining cash management processes and optimizing working capital
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred
- Experience with SAP strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including: Outlook, Excel, Word
- Excellent problem solving, analysis, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in an office environment that could include extended periods of sitting or standing, while occasionally lifting or carrying materials and supplies
