Job Description

The Cash Application and Route Settlement Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of Cash Application and Route Settlement Specialists, to ensure that all payments received through our bank, lockbox and sales centers are accurately applied then posted in accordance with established SLA guidelines. The Cash Application and Route Settlement Supervisor will be accountable for adherence to strict monthly cash close deadlines.  They will monitor credit card activities, communicate NSF payments, maintain customer MICR information for auto cash application and ensure the accurate coding of all unapplied cash and short payments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the cash application process to ensure the timely and accurate posting of all outstanding checks, ACH and credit card payments received.
  • Ensure all failed settlement shipments are processed properly each day and customer payments are retrieved and processed. 
  • Monitor all activities for route settlement to ensure proper all settlement tasks are completed. 
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to all team members.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cash reconciliation reporting for AR Manager and Cash Accountant.
  • Monitor and communicate NSF activity through accurate reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and JSOX relative to cash application processes, adjustments, write offs and other cash activities.
  • Promptly identify, research, review, and code any unapplied cash to ensure resolution within established SLA guidelines.
  • Continually seek out and recommend process improvements then implement changes to improve overall efficiencies in cash applications.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and escalation point for all cash processes, applications, and customer inquiries.
  • Assists with preparation and review of information for internal and external audit requests.
  • Perform additional AR project work and responsibilities as requested by manager.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of related Cash Applications supervisory experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with SAP strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint required
  • Excellent problem solving, analysis, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in an office environment that could include extended periods of sitting or standing, while occasionally lifting or carrying materials and supplies
