Summary
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will lead our quality team in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and food safety. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and operational excellence to oversee quality assurance activities across the manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will develop quality personnel, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with all regulatory, certification, trainings and customer requirements while supporting our commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Safety and Compliance
- Leads and Champion workplace safety initiatives and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Reviews safety incidents and near-misses.
- Enforce and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, FDA, and OSHA compliance requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized facility using 5S principles.
Leadership and Team Management
- Supervise, lead, and motivate a team of Quality Assurance Technicians and provide direction to all QA Technicians and ensure proper staffing across shifts
- Engage and develop team members through effective performance management, coaching, and training
- Communicate company goals including quality standards, customer satisfaction metrics, safety practices, and deadlines
- Implement continuous improvement methods while maintaining customer focus
Quality Systems and Compliance
- Manage and support the company's quality vision to ensure specifications and regulatory requirements are met
- Understand and support documentation, training, and organizational requirements for maintaining quality and food safety certifications
- Serve as a program owner for quality initiatives and perform internal audits to ensure compliance
- Lead and Support in audits from internal and external regulatory bodies, certification organizations, customers, and brand owners
- Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of HACCP and other food safety programs
Quality Control and Analysis
- Manage the processing of laboratory data and monitor for accuracy through exception reporting
- Analyze quality data, recognize unfavorable trends, and make process improvement recommendations
- Oversee comprehensive testing of raw materials, syrups, and finished goods
- Ensure proper evaluation of physical and chemical properties of beverages including pH, temperature, viscosity, and flavor profiles
- Direct package quality inspections and audits
- Implement corrective actions for non-compliant products and processes
Continuous Improvement and Cost Management
- Focus on removing costs, eliminating inefficiencies, and reducing complexity in the supply chain
- Lead quality-related continuous improvement projects
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field
- 1-3 years of manufacturing experience with food and beverage industry experience
- 3+ years supervisory experience Strong understanding of quality control principles and food safety regulations
- Experience with laboratory equipment and testing methods in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and problem-solving
- Computer skills including MS Office, statistical software (SAP, Enact)
- Knowledge of sanitation and beverage processes preferred
- Ability to make critical decisions and provide clear direction
- Strong team development, time management, and communication skills
- Knowledge of microbial and aseptic techniques
- Knowledge of water treatment systems
- Ability to work in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment with seasonal temperatures
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk manufacturing floors, climb stairs, and lift up to 60lbs
Work Environment
- Manufacturing facility with exposure to noise, wet conditions, and varying temperatures
- May require flexible shifts based on business needs
- Requires regular presence on manufacturing floor and in laboratory settings
