About Liberty
The Lead Accountant is responsible for assistance with the monthly SAP close process and consolidated financial reporting. The Lead Accountant is also responsible for analysis and report preparation, assistance with external audit, assistance with tax compliance, and assistance with the annual budgeting process. The position is located at the company’s corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for certain functions of the monthly close process.
- Preparation of certain monthly journal entries.
- Review of prepared (by shared service function) monthly account reconciliations and exposure reports.
- Knowledge of US GAAP enough to research, determine, and document proper treatment of new codification.
- Lead financial statement preparation and internal management reporting.
- Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results comparing against key performance indicators such as Plan, historical results, and other specified benchmarks.
Responsibilities Continued
- Assistance with coordinating the annual external audit process, quarterly tax estimates, and preparation of various analyses required by the assurance and tax teams.
- Coordination of the completion of government and various other regulatory filings (census filings, manufacturing reports, business licenses, corporation annual reports).
- Responsible for the capital asset lifecycle (WBS element, approval workflow tool management, and proper settlement of projects to the Fixed Asset Sub Ledger).
- Development and presentation of recommendations for continuous improvement of processes.
- Ability to coach, develop, and manage a small accounting staff.
- Help document standard operating procedures, as necessary.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Qualifications
In addition to the necessary skills and experience to perform the responsibilities outlined above, there are a number of traits that a successful candidate will possess.
Technical
The Lead Accountant will be an accomplished accounting professional with proven financial and financial-systems skills, solid business acumen and leadership ability. Additionally, the candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Prefer minimum of 5-8 years of corporate accounting experience or combination of public accounting and industry experience.
- CPA required
- Experience with a manufacturing, retail, or consumer packaged goods company would be preferred, but is not required.
- Excellent general accounting skills, thorough working knowledge of US GAAP standards, and ability to research and document accounting issues.
- Ability to analyze financial information and prepare reports to management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word).
