Summary

The Lead Production Technician is responsible for overseeing daily operations on high-speed beverage manufacturing lines. Working as part of a production team, this role ensures the efficient and safe operation of equipment, adherence to quality standards, execution of maintenance tasks, and coordination of changeovers and sanitation activities. The technician plays a critical leadership role in optimizing workflow, improving equipment performance, supporting cross-functional teams, and executing administrative responsibilities as needed.

Safety and Compliance

•    Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to and enforcing safety protocols.
•    Ensure documentation of all safety incidents and near-misses.
•    Maintain compliance with PPE, GMP, and sanitation standards.
•    Possess a strong working knowledge of HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, FDA, and OSHA regulations.
•    Maintain a clean, organized work area following 5S principles.

Production Equipment Operation

•    Start up, shut down, monitor, and operate high-speed filling, sealing, palletizing, robotic, and inspection equipment.
•    Ensure production meets daily targets, quality standards, and production schedules.
•    Follow SOPs and work instructions to deliver consistent results.
•    Monitor line performance, identify deviations, and take immediate corrective actions.
•    Maintain accurate production documentation (batch records, equipment logs, quality forms).
•    Relieve production technicians during breaks, as needed.

Quality Control

•    Ensure ongoing quality checks during production, including on packaging and final products.
•    Adjust equipment as needed to maintain product quality and compliance.
•    Ensure strict adherence to food safety, GMP, and sanitation requirements.
•    Obtain and maintain Sensory Certification for product evaluation.

Equipment Changeovers

•    Coordinate and perform changeovers per production requirements.
•    Participate in changeover optimization projects to reduce downtime.
•    Maintain mechanical/electrical settings for different product types.
•    Improve line ramp-up efficiency through quicker setups and fewer adjustments.

Maintenance Execution

•    Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance.
•    Conduct equipment repairs per work orders, meeting all quality and documentation standards.
•    Utilize SAP PM, EVOCON, or similar systems to track and report maintenance activities.
•    Lead and support execution of Autonomous Maintenance (AM) by team members.

Troubleshooting and Support

•    Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and QA teams to address equipment malfunctions and production issues.
•    Conduct root cause analysis and implement or recommend corrective actions.
•    Identify chronic issues and work toward long-term process improvements.

Process and Equipment Improvement

•    Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
•    Support new equipment, line upgrades, and efficiency improvement projects.
•    Identify bottlenecks or repetitive failures and assist in resolving root causes.

Other Responsibilities

•    Adapt to changing business or operational needs, including support in other departments when required.
•    Respond to evolving requirements in the supply chain and manufacturing process.

Skills, Qualifications and Abilities

•    High school diploma or GED required.
•    5+ years of manufacturing experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or team lead role (preferred).
•    Experience operating automated production equipment.
•    Technical/Vocational certification in Welding, PLC Automation, Electrical, Plumbing, or Automotive Technology is a plus.
•    Automotive Service Technology Certificate and/or Manufacturing-related coursework preferred.
•    Basic understanding of chemistry and food safety practices.
•    Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and P&ID schematics and flow diagrams.
•    Computer literacy and familiarity with production software systems.
•    Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
•    Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance capabilities.
•    Effective communication and leadership skills.
•    Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
•    Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
