Summary
The District Sales Manager is responsible for driving shareholder value through the growth of market share, sales, and profitability within a designated territory. This role leads and develops a team of Account Managers working primarily in the trade with small‑store format accounts, ensuring strong execution, customer engagement, and new business development. It is accountable for coaching and inspiring the team, ensuring disciplined sales planning and execution, and collaborating closely with the District Sales Supervisor to ensure Merchandisers are set up for success. Safety leadership is critical to this role, with accountability for promoting and enforcing safe work practices across all field operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Account Managers focused on small‑store and trade execution within the territory.
- Drive new business development, distribution gains, and revenue growth through strong sales planning and execution.
- Foster a high‑performance, safety‑first culture through regular coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Directly manage and develop the District Sales Supervisor (direct report), ensuring alignment between sales and merchandising priorities and successful in-market execution.
- Directly manage the planning, administration, and execution of sales, merchandising, and distribution activities within a high‑volume territory.
- Establish, maintain, and grow positive customer relationships, including handling escalations and key account engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and training requirements; model safe behaviors and hold teams accountable.
- Manage sales, profit, labor, and operational expenses within budgeted guidelines.
- Monitor in‑market execution, merchandising standards, and selling effectiveness to ensure consistent brand representation.
- Manage and audit team members’ timekeeping, route execution, and adherence to company policies.
Safety Responsibilities
- Perform all job duties in a manner that upholds personal safety and the safety of coworkers, contractors, and the public.
- Comply with all Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages safety policies, procedures, training requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, hazards, near misses, injuries, or incidents to a supervisor or through established reporting channels.
- Participate in required safety training, meetings, audits, and safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Stop work and notify leadership if a task cannot be performed safely or if conditions present an imminent danger.
- Support Liberty Coca-Cola’s culture by holding oneself and others accountable for safe behaviors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in consumer products or direct store delivery (DSD) sales required.
- 3+ years of experience supervising or leading sales teams, preferably within a field‑based environment.
- Demonstrated experience coaching and developing frontline sales talent.
- Packaged goods experience preferred; beverage industry experience is an asset.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to manage budgets, territory performance, and operational metrics.
- Intermediate proficiency with computer and database applications.
- Ability to create and deliver effective sales presentations.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets MVR policy guidelines.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance in a field‑based role.
