Job Summary

The District Sales Manager leads the execution of sales initiatives in all local, regional, and national assigned accounts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and coaching while ensuring a culture of learning and development exists throughout the selling organization.  Utilizes the resources available to build and retain a highly competent team.  May have responsibility of leading operations and/or reset personnel.
  • Responsible for the execution of all sales priorities and initiatives for the sales teams in designated area.  Provides sales route coverage as needed.   Accountable for selling and adherence to the Customer Marketing Agreements (CMA).  Provides feedback to the national customer teams.  Executes and fulfills all channel, package and pricing plans provided by the Customer team.
  • Responsible for maintaining successful relationships with customer accounts, serving as the point of contact, providing information to sales area and operations leadership. 
  • Maintains regular communication and interaction with store level and local chain leaders.  Responsible for communicating cross-functionally with various teams to ensure satisfaction and the continuation of successful partnerships with the customer.  Provides marketplace condition updates to leadership.
  • Establishes behaviors that ensure a safe working environment is provided and ensures that teammates are trained on safe working techniques in the trade.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of work experience required, or a minimum of five years of progressive job experience including people, project, or account management with leadership and influencing skills required.
  • Prior experience in retail or direct-store-delivery (DSD) sales including contract terms and negotiations required.
  • Prior experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods industry preferred.
  • Effectively communicates & builds relationships at all organizational levels; ability to both present ideas and influence decisions at leadership level.
  • This position requires you to use your personal vehicle during work hours with reimbursement.  Proof of insurance covering business use is required at time of hire.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
