Job Overview
The RC Area Service Manager is responsible for managing Asset Operational Planning Region(s) and Teams comprised of asset planners and assistant asset planners within the assigned region; whereby, regions are comprised of multiple asset sites, hubs, states, and customers. The RC Area Service Manager is also responsible for the planning of the RCT fleet of trucks, trailers, drivers within the assigned region and ensuring optimal productivity, service levels, and revenue. The manager needs to understand and meet the needs of our customers, both internal and external, as well as the drivers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures a high level of customer service for the entire operating area by establishing a good working relationship with each Regional General Manager, Facility Manager, Internal Customer Service, and internal and external customers
- Ensures effective communication with Planners, Customer Service, internal and external customers on all levels while developing positive and solid relationships to enhance growth
- Partners with Network Engineering Team to implement strategies, monitor growth, correct issues, provide feedback and resolutions for continued growth and improvement to Senior Management
- Manages team to ensure optimal routing for the driver, unit utilization, and performance in generating revenue for assigned region and collaborates with Sales and Pricing on network capacities and lane fulfillment
- Communicates pickup and delivery exceptions with Managed Freight Group, Customer Service group, Regional General Managers, Sr Facility and Facility Managers
- Owns the Development, Deployment, and Performance of Operational Metrics and team performance to those metrics
- Manages, leads, and motivates a team to deliver results by communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines; engaging and developing teammates through effective performance management, coaching, and training
- Implements continuous improvement methods while maintaining customer focus, and embodying company purpose and values to inspire servant leadership
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to work under stress while remaining professional at all times. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented either verbally or in writing
- Ability to recognize, evaluate and resolve problems using independent judgment. Ability to communicate well with others using above-average writing skills and organizational skills
- Ability to take direction and follow-through on tasks
- Google Map reading skills required
- Detailed oriented, be proactive instead of reactive
- Capable of working independently, without constant supervision
- Experience with Excel and Tableau Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMW Preferred)
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school in Logistics and Supply Chain Business Management
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge acquired through 3 to up to 5 years of work experience
- Alternative Work Experience: 3 Years Transportation Management experience, 3 Years Transportation Planning experience
