Job Overview
The Corporate Accountant performs general ledger accounting responsibilities related to the month-end close process. This includes routine journal entries and account reconciliations for Coke Consolidated and its subsidiary businesses. This individual performs financial analysis of accounting data and transactions to identify significant fluctuations for review and accuracy. They also support the quarterly and year-end audits responding to internal and external auditors.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Performs general ledger accounting responsibilities related to the month-end close process, including routine journal entries and account reconciliations
• Researches accounting discrepancies and variances to provide insights for more efficient operations and use of resources
• Compiles month-end journal entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Prepares quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments, and future revenues for manager review
• Creates and maintains supporting schedules, calculations, and documentation for SEC reporting disclosures that includes adherence to accounting control procedures
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables and vlookups)
• Experience with large ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• Ability to critically analyze account activity and properly reconcile balances
• Develop and implement accounting processes and procedures by analyzing current practices and recommending changes
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and ensure appropriate follow-up occurs
• Attention to detail and highly organized
• Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (4 years in Accounting, Finance or related field)
• Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications
• CPA candidate or license is preferred
