Role Details

  • Work Location – Toronto 
  • Hybrid Environment – This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. Subject to change. The in-office requirement is a minimum of three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining days.
  • Salary – The base salary for the position is $82,800- $115,000. The starting base salary is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, role complexity, experience and internal equity.

About This Opportunity

We are recruiting a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our Accounting & Internal Controls team. In this role, you will support the financial stewardship and reporting of the Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement, including budgeting and forecasting activities.

 

In this role, you will play a key role in the month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting and analysis. This position is also responsible for preparing financial statements, monthly management reports, and quarterly and year-end internal and external reporting packages, as well as supporting required government reporting.

 

This role supports Operating Expenses (OPEX) and DME (Data Medium Exchange) activities and contributes to Planning and Corporate Reporting. You will partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare reporting packages, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), and executive level presentations. 
  • Own balance sheet budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. 
  • Support month end close activities, including posting entries, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements. 
  • Review income and expense classifications for accuracy and appropriateness. 
  • Ensure expenses are processed in accordance with company policies and guidelines. 
  • Prepare monthly adjusting journal entries as required. 
  • Provide accounting support to internal stakeholders, addressing financial inquiries and business needs. 
  • Maintain and monitor subledger and general ledger controls, ensuring they are properly documented and consistently applied.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required. 
  • CPA designation, or actively working toward completion, is considered an asset. 
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial analysis. 
  • Experience with SAP is an asset. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including building and evaluating complex formulas. 
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and solid organizational skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Well-developed analytical, planning, and problem-solving capabilities. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
