About This Opportunity

 

The Demand Planning Specialist will report into the Manager, Demand Planning and is accountable for the management of the demand planning process for their assigned business area as part of the national S&OP process. The candidate works closely with Sales analyzing quantitative and qualitative inputs to the forecast, such as trade promotion plans, competitive impacts, new item launches and cannibalization to develop a monthly consensus demand plan (12-month horizon). This position leads the dialogue each week for their respective customers and products with key counterparts in Sales. The Demand Planner is the integration point between Supply, Sales and Commercial organizations.

Responsibilities

•    Generate a baseline 12-month statistical forecast model using SAP APO system. Determine, document and maintain all statistical parameters used to drive a ‘best fit’ model.
•    Connect with Sales to understand the different forecast building blocks.
•    Project short and long term volume estimates, using input from Sales, Production Plants, Distribution and Marketing to provide the system with accurate volumes to be used in budgeting.
•    Partner with Supply Planning team to assure forecasts can be translated into actionable supply chain plans that optimize inventory and maximize customer service.
•    Lead the Demand Review for the S&OP process, working with Sales, Supply and Leadership team.
•    Report forecast accuracy, determine root causes for inaccurate demand plans, and recommend and execute plans to improve demand plan accuracy.
•    Lead continuous improvement in Demand Planning

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Business, or Economics.
•    Minimum 3 years in supply chain / demand planning / statistical forecast or related field.
•    Previous demand planning experience strongly preferred.
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel experience required (pivot tables, data mining, etc.). SQL Knowledge is an asset. 
•    Forecasting: Demand: Knowledge of demand forecasting techniques and inputs (e.g., business trends, seasonality, consumption patterns).
•    Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (JDA/ SAP APO/Oracle Demand Planning/Manugistics) and Business Warehouse (BW) is an asset.
•    Professional certificate with Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS), Supply Chain Management Association Ontario (SCMA) or Six Sigma/Lean is an asset.
•    Experience in consumer-packaged goods (CPG) environment is an asset.
