About This Opportunity

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor is on the warehouse floor to lead their team and ensure the shipments are properly received and stored while ensuring smooth flow from the production line to a nearby warehouse. The Supervisor works as a coach and mentor to their team. To succeed in this position, the supervisor must be capable of planning the workload, motivating their team, and ensuring an efficient throughput of materials and products through the production facility. Safety and product quality should be top of mind in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of warehouse employees, while respecting budgetary constraints                              
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing health and safety policies and regulations, along with ensuring compliance with good manufacturing practices
  • Supervise a warehouse team consisting of shipper/receivers, recyclers, cleaners and lead hands
  • Supervise the IPT (inter plant transfer) tractor drivers as they move product and materials back and forth from our main warehouse
  • Coach, lead and mentor all warehouse/IPT employees
  • Oversee the storage of, and the shipping and receiving of goods
  • Work with the supervisory and management team to develop a work environment that promotes good working relationships and ongoing communication with unionized employees
  • Develop and apply control methods to maintain a high level of labour efficiency 
  • Take part in any other related projects or tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Experience and/or education in a related field preferred. 
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a unionized storage or distribution environment.
  • Be a leader, a good communicator, and be familiar with the application of a collective bargaining agreement in a unionized work environment.
  • Ability to look forward to recognize potential issues and create a plan to correct
  • Possess excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to make sound recommendations based on systematic evaluations.
  • Ability to provide guidance, motivation, and training for development of the team. 
  • Ability to cultivate, manage and foster a diverse team of employees.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and SAP computer tools.
