About This Opportunity
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is a full-time position located at the Coke Canada Bottling Production Facility in Calgary. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Supervisor oversees and coordinates activities within the Quality Assurance department while working closely with members of the production facility. The incumbent ensures that all quality assurance activities are carried out accurately and efficiently on production assets, utilizing both preventive and predictive quality assurance practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage overall quality of ingredients, products, and packaging to ensure all standards and specifications are met.
- Establish operational procedures in collaboration with the Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance teams.
- Ensure all QA equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate, franchise owner, federal, and provincial policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Monitor production processes, conduct periodic checks, and adjust equipment as needed to meet corporate requirements. Troubleshoot processes when required.
- Manage QA Technicians working in the QA lab and syrup room.
- Hire, train, evaluate, develop, and monitor performance of QA employees.
- Review and maintain documentation for compliance; ensure all logs are accurately and properly recorded.
- Conduct internal audits related to quality, food safety, safety, and environmental standards as part of the management systems.
- Manage water treatment and effluent treatment processes.
- Ensure all activities meet Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
- Participate in and support external audits to maintain quality and food safety certifications.
- Lead or participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related discipline
- Experience working in ISO-certified and/or Food Safety environments
- Knowledge and experience with water treatment systems in the food and beverage industry
- Working knowledge or hands-on experience with HACCP and FSSC 22000 standards
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), preferably in the food and beverage sector
- Experience in a unionized or labor relations environment is considered an asset
- Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proven ability to solve problems collaboratively within team settings
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and database systems
